1. The Desktop App: 100% Offline & Zero Data Collection
When you run the Desk Dangle desktop companion app on macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel) or Windows (10 or 11):
- The desktop application operates completely offline without any required internet connection.
- We do not collect your name, email address, physical location, IP address, hardware IDs, or device telemetry.
- We do not monitor your open windows, keystrokes, clipboard contents, or screen pixels. Desk Dangle is simply a passive, click-through overlay.
- We do not embed advertising SDKs, background telemetry daemons, or spyware trackers.
- We do not store or process any financial or payment credentials (Desk Dangle is 100% free).
2. Custom Uploads & Local-Only Storage
Desk Dangle allows you to customize your screen with your own images (such as pet photos, artwork, custom graphics, or memes). Any image you choose or configure in Desk Dangle stays 100% local on your device’s hard drive. We operate zero cloud image servers, and your images are never transmitted over the internet or accessible by anyone else.
3. The Marketing Website & GitHub API Calls
When you browse our public marketing website (deskdangle.com):
- GitHub API Calls: The website sends anonymous, client-side, read-only requests to public GitHub endpoints (such as
api.github.com/repos/heyriyaz/DeskDangle) to fetch release version numbers, download asset URLs, and star counts. These requests do not send any user credentials and are governed by GitHub’s standard public API policies. - Anonymous Website Analytics: We may collect anonymous, aggregated website traffic statistics through Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand general metrics such as total visits, browser types, and referral sources. No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected or tied to individual visitors.
You can opt out of Google Analytics web tracking across the internet by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser settings.
